Home air filters that include furnace filters and air conditioner filters play a critical role in your indoor air quality (IAQ). With many styles of home air filters available including pleated home air filters and fiberglass home air filters it can be tough to figure out what type of home air filter best fits your needs. We have simplified the process providing the very best Premium Pleated Home Air Filters available for furnaces and air conditioners of today. These Premium Pleated Home Air Filters have the highest dust holding capacity and the lowest pressure drop in the industry. There are two common styles of furnace filters that can be found in most HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) systems. Pleated furnace filters and Fiberglass filters. Pleated furnace filters are the better of the two for pulling particulate out of the air such as Mold Spores, Dust Mite Debris, Pet Dander and Household Dust. By pulling these and other particles out of the air, your family will breathe cleaner, healthier indoor air in your home. With fiberglass furnace filters (basic filters) you are not going to get the added benefits as you would with premium pleated furnace filters, this style of filter is designed to protect your HVAC equipment not necessarily your family. When dirty furnace filters are left in a system they begin to restrict airflow; restricted air flow means your furnace or air conditioners are going to work harder to push the same amount of air. This can cause damage to your furnace or air conditioner and also raise your utility usage. It is recommended that fiberglass furnace filters be changed every 30 days and pleated furnace filters be changed every 90 days. This is simply a recommendation as all situations are different. For instance a home with a large family including several pets may need more frequent changes since the air quality will likely be worse then average conditions with extra use. When comparing pleated furnace filters a good rule of thumb is the MERV rating of 8 to 10 is best, a lower MERV rating will not provide much barrier as a higher MERV rating may seem better but not true as you can infringe upon too much barrier with not enough flow for your HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) systems to function properly.
